Shadow Project 2017

This shadow project was the study of light and human form. I started by drawing on black paper with a white crayon, which means you have to only draw the lightest sections of the image and not the dark and shadow that we are used to. After that I decided to use photography to capture shadow on the human form by using one strong light source. These photographs were then drawn into and painted over. I studied a painter who could draw onto the body and I was inspired to paint these onto my photographs. Using paint, I had to make sure the image I was drawing looked like it was warped around the body and limbs. With the other photographs, I animated some of them and drew into parts highlighting certain sections of the body.

I feel like this project tested my observation of shape and form in order to execute the warping of the images on the body.
